Inside the Camp

What the day looks like

Morning — find your place. You don’t pick an instrument on the way in. The morning is for hearing the songs, then rotating through every part — drums, bass, guitar, keys, vocals. You try all of it and find what fits. We meet you exactly where you are, whether this is your first time touching an instrument or you’ve been playing for years.

Afternoon — build the set. We sort everyone into worship bands, and the afternoon is rehearsal — real worship songs from the Shortbook, broken down to the parts you can play today. Each band has its own room and a helper, and your coach moves between them. Teens and adults end up in the same bands — that mix is the point.

5:00 PM — lead worship together. Friends and family arrive. Your band sets up, runs a real soundcheck, and leads a live worship set. For a lot of people it’s their first time playing worship in front of anyone — and they walk out with the tools and the experience to do it again, at camp or on a team back home.

Who this is for

Every age, every level.

This isn’t a youth camp. It’s for worship musicians of any age — the 14-year-old and the 54-year-old learn side by side, and that mix is part of what makes the day work.

For the brand-new beginner

Never played in a band — or never played at all? That’s the design. The day takes you from zero to leading worship, whatever your age.

For the player stepping into worship

You already play, but a worship band is its own thing — or you’re picking up a new instrument for the team. This is hands-on practice in a real band setting.

For worship leaders

Bring your developing players — your bench, your youth, your adult volunteers. A whole team can come and grow together in one day.

The things people ask first.

What’s the age range?

All ages, 11 and up — teens and adults alike. There’s no upper limit; plenty of adult worship musicians come. Younger than 11 considered case-by-case — just ask.

Do I need worship experience?

None. All levels are welcome, total beginner to seasoned. We meet you where you are and match you with players who fit.

What instrument will I play?

You don’t pick in advance. You rotate through drums, bass, guitar, keys, and vocals in the morning, then choose by lunch. Vocalists are very welcome.

How long is the day, and where?

Times may vary slightly — plan on roughly 10 AM to 5 PM, closing with the worship set at 5:00. Held at First Covenant Church, Duluth, MN.

Can my whole team come together?

Yes — this is a great fit for a worship team to grow together in one day. Bringing four or more from one church? Ask us about a team rate.

What should I bring?

Earbuds or headphones for practice time, a water bottle, and a willingness to try. Lunch is a $20 add-on — details come after you register — or bring your own.
