Do I need any experience?
None. Zero to stage is the whole point. The day is built for beginners — the opening session is Play in a Day for all five roles (drums, bass, guitar, keys, vocals), so even campers who already play pick up the other instruments right away. We start from ground zero, together.
What instrument will I play?
You’ll choose on the day of camp — not before. Campers are encouraged to try more than one! You learn the basics on all of them in the morning, and we decide by lunchtime.
Can I bring my guitar, keyboard, or other instrument?
Yes — if you have a personal instrument, we encourage you to bring it, along with any accessories (cables, amp, strap, capo, picks, drumsticks, and so on). None of it is required — we provide drum sets, keyboards, and guitars to borrow. But gear is limited at times as campers rotate, so bringing your own means maximum time on it.
How long is the day, and where?
Times may vary slightly — plan on roughly 10 AM to 5 PM, with the performance at 5 PM for friends and family. Held at First Covenant Church, Duluth, MN.
Do I have to come for all the dates?
No. The camp is one day only. Each date is a separate event with its own registration.
What’s the age range?
Ages 11 and up. Others may be considered case-by-case. The camp runs in a positive-attitude environment — every camper is expected to help build our “I can try that” tone for everyone.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is a $20 add-on. After you register, you’ll get the details and a chance to pay for lunch — or bring your own. Either way we all eat together: lunch is when we talk through the Play in a Day training, choose instruments, and form the bands.
What should I bring?
Earbuds or headphones for practice time, a water bottle, and a willingness to try. Everything else is provided — bring a personal instrument too if you’ve got one (see above).
